Frequently Asked Questions
The Achill Experience has at least 58 different species within our aquarium, ranging from saltwater and fresh water fish, catsharks, crustaceans and various invertebrates such as sea urchins and starfish. The majority of our residents are native to the Irish waters and we aim to highlight Irelands amazing marine biodiversity, however we are also home to a variety of tropical salt and fresh water species such as clownfish which are native to the Indo-Pacific region and Red Tiger Oscars which can be found in South America.
The wellbeing of the residents in our aquarium is extremely important to the staff here at the Achill Experience and we strive to ensure they have a diet that reflects their natural environment while also catering for their nutritional needs. Each one of our tanks is fed according to the species that resides there and the availability of certain food sources that may be seasonal depending on the time of year.
